Implants / Dentures

Implant-supported dentures have emerged as one of the most popular ways to replace entire sets of teeth. Such oral appliances chew through food similar to regular teeth yet prove more comfortable and effective than regular dentures. Implant dentures will restore your bite, beautify your smile and provide you with the confidence you need to be your true self when surrounded by others.

Implant-supported dentures consist of an acrylic arch containing artificial teeth connected to the mouth through implants. These implants are titanium screw-like posts that are surgically implanted into the jaw to function similar to the roots of teeth. The denture connects to the implants, ultimately retaining bone density and preventing deterioration. This approach helps ensure your jaw maintains its volume as well as its shape.

Instead of resting on the gums for support as occurs with conventional dentures, the implant-supported variety relies on implants for support. In fact, implant-supported dentures connect to the jawbone, providing stimulation that prevents potential atrophying. Choose implant-supported dentures and you will find you can chew through foods of all different types without even the slightest problem. Your implants enhance your biting force, functioning just like regular teeth. If you are considering implants or dentures, reach out to our office at (631) 929-6800 to find out more about implant-supported dentures.

We take pride in serving patients of all ages. If you have a child, teen, tween, adult or senior citizen in your family who has not been to the dentist in the prior six months, that individual is more than welcome in our office. You and your family members are invited to schedule an appointment at our Wading River, NY dental practice by dialing (631) 929-6800. If you or a loved one are fearful or nervous about dental procedures/treatments as a result of a bad experience at a dental practice in the past, don’t fret! Our friendly dentist is gentle, kind and caring.

There is a common misconception that all dentists are family dentists. The truth is plenty of dentists do not want to work on the teeth and gums of infants, kids or other patients who have specialized needs. However, we embrace the opportunity to provide dental care for patients at all stages of life. We understand dental needs change throughout the aging process. Our team has received extensive training and education to provide such care for patients of all ages.

Our family dentistry services include six-month cleanings and exams to evaluate oral health and hygiene. We provide children and also some adult patients with dental sealants and fluoride treatments. Additional family dental services at our practice include cavity checks, fillings, gum disease treatment, orthodontic devices and cosmetic dentistry to enhance smile beauty.

Preventative treatment

Instead of letting problems develop with your teeth or gums, Dr. Cohen proactively identifies such issues before they can cause significant problems. Preventative dentistry is essential to maintaining optimal oral health. This proactive approach to dentistry includes ongoing six-month relang, education regarding oral hygiene, x-rays, cleanings, an oral cancer screening and more. The overarching goal of preventative treatment is to preserve your oral health and prevent potentially costly or uncomfortable procedures in the years ahead.

You can do some things on your own to improve your oral health in the short-term and long-term. Our dental team is here to explain exactly what is necessary to keep your teeth and gums as healthy as possible. Aside from flossing after each meal, it is in your interest to brush your teeth at least two times of day, consume plenty of water and eat nutrient-packed foods. Above all, it is important that you meet with our dentist at least two times per year at a bare minimum so we can review your oral health and pinpoint potential problems before they worsen.

Laser dentistry has advanced to the point that it is reducing surgical periodontal treatment. This approach is high-tech, painless, fast and highly effective. A diminutive diode laser contacts the diseased portion of the gum pocket to disinfect and promote rapid healing and tissue re-growth.

If you know or suspect you have gum disease, schedule an appointment with Shoreline Family Dentistry by dialing (631) 929-6800. This approach does not require anesthetic, is minimally invasive, sets the stage for a rapid healing time and is as gentle as it gets on your mouth’s soft tissue.
